PCC Thorion GmbH, a subsidiary of the PCC Group, and E-Lyte Innovations GmbH have entered into a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) to collaboratively advance, validate, and commercialize PCC Thorion’s new Scionb electrolyte additive platform. The partnership aims to develop high-performance electrolyte solutions for lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries that meet the growing demands of modern energy storage systems in terms of performance, safety, and cycle life.

The Scionb product line comprises several novel electrolyte additives that originated from an extensive research and development program and are now being further developed toward commercialization within the framework of this strategic collaboration. These additives address key challenges in modern battery cell technologies, including improved fast-charging capability, extended cycle life of silicon-rich anode cells, stabilization of high-nickel cathodes, and the reduction of undesirable gas generation.

Under the Joint Development Agreement, E-Lyte will be responsible for the development, formulation, and production of customized electrolytes based on the Scionb additives. Together, the partners will develop high-performance electrolyte systems and validate them under application-relevant conditions in various cell configurations. The evaluation program will cover both lithium-ion and sodium-ion technologies and target applications in the automotive (EV), industrial, and stationary energy storage sectors (BESS & ESS). The resulting insights and performance data will serve as the foundation for further product optimization, industrial scale-up, and customer-specific validation and development programs.
